Really getting picky - BUT - all times for distances beyond the 100 and 110 straight races are not exact results. A racer has to run a shade longer than the given distance as he/she will run in the middle or outer edge of a lane in some races where the line is the measured distance, right. When one gets to mid and long distance races, I am willing to bet that everyone runs more than the noted distance, changing lanes and running on the outside shoulder of a competitor. Sure, it is only a fraction more but that micro distance could change a world record. I'm I way off? FAT timing has it down to 100ths. Example. Would the true world record for the mile be a straight run - Like the 5th Av. mile? Thoughts!
