He's run 3:59 and 7:51 indoors this year, but hasn't had any recognition. Any thoughts?

he's 26
24, actually. still he probably gets no talk because he is a bit older, and people are more interested in whether jennings' 3:59 was a 3:58, and what is rupp's 1500m-mile conversion.
he's running as a junior this year and if he gets another year of eligibilty then he will be 25. i'm sure if he does something extreme next year (like win a championship) he still won't be mentioned much at all except as having been too old.
he probably won't get much press until he goes pro (if even then he can make a substantial impact on the track) or until there is another street mop fight.
Steve Perry-When You Love a Woman?
obviously you guys are idiots, because you have to take into account that he didn't even compete for 2 whole years. I would say that that is pretty impressive.
thanks for the recognition
i AM 24, one of you was right.
i didn't run a step from my 19th birthday until 21 and a half
so i am a bit older, but also less experienced than a 20 year old, and only 3 years of consistent running.
Good job Kyle! I'm glad to see that you're back, last year was rough on ya! keep it UP....H.

anyone need a company poet?
I don't see how your less experienced than a twenty year old.
Hey Kyle, congrats on the sub-4. You almost lapped me in the 3000m up at BYU.... I look forward to watching your races this season, on TV or from the back of the pack.
I just have to believe that Eyestone is one of the greatest coaches out there. He's been at BYU less than 10 years and has put out several national champions, a few silver medalists, a top 5 XC team, 3 guys under 4:00 in as many years... all with limited recruiting. To my knowledge, BYU doesn't get all the big high school names, just kids who know how to work hard. He's got a good program for developing people to say the least.
Perry is a perfect example of someone unknown before college who is a national champion contender.

ok, so i exaggerated a little. what i meant was the fact that although i am a junior at 24, i have still run less raced than a 20 year old junior from any other school, since i was out half of my soph year for surgery, and haven't redshirted. my total race count is under 30 times on the track. plus i started running as a junior in highschool. so race experience is what i meant

No. Luke Perry.
You remember how skinny he was? 100 miles weeks my friend.
While I believe that Ed Eyestone is a good coach you are kidding yourself if you think that BYU doesn't get very good talent. His current team has 2 FootLocker finalists, 2 other runners that went 4:08 for the mile and 4:12 for 1600 in high school. Kyle Perry went under 4:20 at altitude in only his second year of running. BYU gets a lot of talent.
