Congratulations to Ryan Sheridan in his first race wearing the Iona College colors! He's going to help the Gaels X-C to quickly reload their depth. He made a really strong move to shake up and then crack the field in San Diego [all the more congrats are deserved considering he has had to battle serious disruptions to his running over the past few years).
p.s. Fernandez sure bounced back from Footlocker disappointment too
Fernandez is a great XC runner. I'm very excited to see how well that translates to track this spring.
It's truly amazing what this kid has gone through. Not running since his soph year of high school to where he is now. Big talent!
Hes really nice too, I had a good conversation with him before a race of his. Really outgoing and laid back about running, but obviously dedicated as well.
And Fernandez had a great run.

And, Fernandez will be visiting Iona this week on an official recruiting visit.
I'd say reloading is an accurate term.
There is no one as deserving as Ryan. A hard worker with an impeccable attitude on running and life itself.

what kept him from running the last few years?
I believe it was some type of injury he had since after his amazing year of winning ny feds as a soph and going to footlocker. it was undiagnosed for a long time. i want to say something with the kidney
I thought it was a back injury.
note to me about Ryan (I left him out of predictions when 1) did not know he'd run 24:30 or so early in season or 2) 14:21 5k indoors) - tough to follow these red-shirts!!!

Also the 7th year they have had no one born in America score at the NCAA meet in Cross.
I hope that fernandez stays in cali, i know oklahoma state and iona were all over him but it would be a shame to lose him to those states
Where would Fernandez go in-state? Cal? I think he would be betterserved staying somewhere warm, but I don't think that California will be "losing" him if he goes to school out of state.
For sure will hate oklahoma, lived there 3 years before and I hated it as far as running and social life are concerned. Iona is too far and cold but better for running at least. So many better options in cali though you must agree
