Despite what most of the nitwits here say - yes people in Boulder do have "real jobs" unfortunately for these people they only know the "dish dogs", waiters and shoe salesmen in Boulder. Those big houses in and around Boulder are not filled by people selling shoes and scrubbing dishes at Zolo.

Why would a city full of smart people make it a great place to live and train? I don't see the parallel between running and the need to be surrounded by educated people.

Okay, for all of you douchebag Boulder haters...come and get it. Yes, smart people, nice training, nice weather, nice microbrews, nice people (mostly), great food, 300+ days of sun guaranteed, mountains, what's not to love. oh, one other thing, it's a buttload cheaper than San Fran, san diego, Boston, NY, etc. It's not the cheapest out there but for what you get, it's a steal. So, let's just start another "why boulder sucks" thread, or bash some guys starting to get a group together...oh wait...save your time and biatch elsewhere. I frickin' love Colorado.

I agree; living in Colorado (esp. Boulder County), is a steal. Compared to any enlightened East or West Coast City-Boulder County is a fun, safe, and green place to live with some of the best public schools in the country . It's nice to be surrounded by smart people that know how to live life.

And that means what ? UCLA and USC are the Olympics and World Championships machines, and where are they located, only 15 miles apart down the freeway from each other in the City of Los Angeles.

One thing is certainly true: Boulder has the most people who THINK they are the smartest.

I thought Raleigh, NC had the most PhDs per capita.

What is your opinion on Carbondale. Seems like a very nice place to live. I went skiing in Aspen back in 2004 when I was in college. I stayed in a cramped hotel and did the whole trip (I am from georgia) for $400 dollars (including 5 days worth of lift tickets). I always thought it would be a relatively inexpensive place to live in colorado, especially considering its proximity to Aspen.

The article said that 53% of adults over 25 have a college Bachelor's Degree? Isn't that a LOW statistic???

Also, it quotes a 93% of adults in Boulder have graduated from High School??? That is still LOW!

Boulder is NOT the smartest city with those kind of statistics. 53% college graduates? There are surely other cities and towns that have a much higher college graduation rate than that!!!

No...national average is somewhere around 25-30%.
