I notice that on some teams, some members wear bunhuggers and some don't. For example Molly Huddle wears regular shorts while most of her Notre Dame teammates (like Loryn King) wear bunhuggers. I wonder why this is?

Really depends, if it is a team of fat asses, we would all prefer they wear regular shorts. However, if the team looks like the Zeigle's then bunhuggers are preferred.
Why dont men wear them? It seems to me that it would create less wind drag. Maybe not a huge deal in XC but in the 800 or 1500 or how about a long effort in fron af a marathon.
(insert your joke here)
I wore the shorter tights once in a race, but my large package fell out of them. All the women around me were oohing and aahing, it was quite embarrassing. That's why I don't wear them anymore.
I went home at noon and tried on a pair of my wife's bunhuggers. They felt nice and soft, I liked them very much.
This was a discussion on why some NCAA teams make all the girls wear bunhuggers while some (Notre Dame) allow them to choose shorts or bunhuggers.
There have been surveys showing that female runners tend to be faster in bunhuggers than regular shorts. I guess this is because they're form fitting so no wind resistance, chafing etc.
I think some of the more competitive schools and colleges mandate them because they want better results. IMHO it's crazy to make them optional because most girls feel nervous wearing them initially so if they had the option to wear shorts many wouldn't get over that stage whereas I think most girls find them really comfortable once they're used to them.
Molly Huddle refuses to wear him and she isn't exactly slow.
wearing another human being would be quite heavy. I can see why she wouldn't want to wear 'him'.
Oh no, not the bunhugger girl again. This girl always makes a cameo appearance on running message boards when the subject turns to bunhuggers. Any of you who are fast-women.com visitors know what I'm talking about.
I prefer if they aren't wearing bunhuggers.
Bunhuggers are degrading to any woman who isn't a size negative zero. A fit looking woman who looks great in shorts will look like a cow in bunhuggers.
At the same time they are too revealing for high school kids. It's really disgusting seeing those children from the Argyle NY team running in them. They are about 11 years old.
Go BYU and Notre Dame -- not making your women wear them. And shame on Argyle.
I have been wearing them ever since high school and I think they're great! I was the only girl on my team who wore them all the time, including dual meets. I look like a freak in shorts, because my legs are so long. It all depends on your preference and how comfortable you are with yourself. Some people should not be allowed to wear them. Nothing like a jiggly cottage cheese ass. Yikes! So coaches should offer the option of shorts or butthuggers.
Do we want to see Marion Jones in a Butthugger?
thank you Jehosephat. i enjoyed that night late laugh you provided me with.
LMAO! Priceless. Funniest thing I've seen in a long time
now, that's an argument for bunners!

maybe because the ones who where 'em are skinnier & skinner = faster?
Josh Spiker has taken the "Jared" Subway Challenge and lost 20 lbs in 2 weeks while recovering from an achilles injury.
He is also emulating his hero, Alan Webb, by getting a chinese tatoo and sporting his new body in male butthuggers.
