I am just curious as to what kind of times 800 and 1500 meter runners were able to do in the 400/4x4. It would be interesting to see the correlation. I am specifically interested in what 1:50 half-milers can do in the quarter.

Well I had a teammate once that was 1:52 in the 800, 4:06 in the mile and ran a 49 in the 4x4. I'd say on average around 48-51 seconds.
I run closeish to 150
4:05
1:53
48.6 is my best 4x4 split
I know in my league theres a dudes who go 1:50 are usually 48-50.
2/3 x 400m time + 1/3 of 1500m time will give you your 800m time
i.e 0.666 x 50sec = 33.33 + 0.333 x 4 min (240sec) = 79.99
33.33 + 79.99 = 113.32 or 1:53.32
Wow, suprisingly accurate
53,3 and 4:12,6 => theoretical 1:59,7
I ran 1:59,4
That works for me too and I'm much slower:
57.0 400m
4:30 1500m
2:07.5 800m
(Theoretical 2:08)
It's always pretty close to being right. It's only a simple formula, but it's not too bad really.
1500: 4:35
800: 2:08
400: 54-55
I guess I am slacking in my 400 and mile, because in using this formula with my 49 second 400 time and 4:08 mile time, I come out with a 1:55.3 800. However, my PR in the 800 is 1:50.6. Am I just far better in the 800 then these other events or what?
It's 1/3 of your 1500 time, not your mile time. (so 4:08 is about 3:51ish). You also need to make sure you are not rounding off your pr's. If you've run 49.3 then you need to use that time, not just 49 flat.
thats a pretty good formula actually, gives my 800 about .8 off.
too good at 800? wrote:

no your just slacking with your math. if you use 49.0 and 3:51.0 (converted from 4:08.0), you get a 1:48.57.
