I wish that RW presented the entire '83 issue, but what they do present is a pretty interesting look at the past.
Some notes and observations:
Slide 11 - I still have (and use) the Casio J-50. The little digital running man is a classic.
Slide 5 - Oh how we coveted Sub 4 Gear!
Slide 13 - Shoe prices. Note "the First $100 Running Shoe," the NB 990. But note the other shoe prices: suprisingly expensive when adjusted for infaction. Use the CPI calculator @
http://cost.jsc.nasa.gov/inflateCPI.htmland plug in some of the prices. And I complain about shoe prices these days! No wonder we all carefully washed our shoes, resoled them, and handed them down. Adjusted for infation the Saucony Jazz is far cheaper today. Now I know why my parents always bought us the Pennys and Sears knockoffs!
Slide 12 - The runner's tie. Damnit! I passed that up when my dad tried to hand it down to me. He may still have it, though more likely it's in a Goodwill somewhere waiting for a lucky buyer.
In general - The pictures that accompany the articles actually look like... runners.
