with the exception of metal, all the rock on mtv today is basically vaginal music to me. why is that?

David Bowie was, like, sooooo much more manly.
Manly named bands like "Frankie Goes To Hollywood" are sorely missed.
Because you are sexually insecure
Using MTV as your primary source of music is a good way to ensure that whatever you listen to is crap.
There's good stuff out there, obviously just not on MTV.
That's like looking for quality training advice in Runner's World...just because you ain't seeing it, doesn't mean it's not out there though.

"Why is modern rock music so faggy?"
So it will fit your needs.
All the metal is "vaginal" also, with rare exception. Gone are the days where bands like Sabbath, Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Cradle of Filth, and even Metallica actually kinda scared people. Today, bands like AFI, Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, etc pretty much ensure that no one is ever going to fear metal again. You can wear all the eye makeup you want. You can dress in black, get alot of tattoos, and adopt creepy stage names like Synyster Gates, but you aren't scaring anyone. Not even parents. Seriously. I went to an Atreyu show a few years back because a band I kinda liked at the time, Unearth, was one of the openers. There were parents EVERWHERE. Standing there with their kids bobbing their f***ing heads and smiling. It was harmless. Cute even. Up to that point I had kinda suspected that metal was no longer, well, metal. But that night just made it painfully clear that metal had lost all edge it ever possesed. Sure, there are a few stand outs that are still kickin some ass. Dillinger Escape Plan and Today is the Day are a couple that come to mind. And there are a few scary 'black metal' bands in Europe. But for the most part, anything labeled "metal" or "hardcore" or "punk" is a complete joke.
There was a day when a dude like Phil Anselmo could look you in the eye from the stage and you were actually worried for a second that he would come down from there and pummel you just for looking like a pussy. When he screamed about murder and mayhem, you were pretty sure he knew what he was talking about from personal experience. But these pussies in metal bands today? Please.
exect all the newer bands you listed are just shit rock. behind enemy lines is the best band around today
Seriously dude, rock has always been androgynous.

Why would anyone be scared of a band? You are a pussy.
Because little dorks trapped in heartsick crushes tap their creative juices and write songs about beautiful anorexic runner babes they will never get.
Sadly, most of you letsrunner dorks identify with said dorks' plight and secretly buy the music, make it mainstream, and it gets play on MTV. You are just feeding the faggy monster.
You give one in 100 million faggy big bucks, he lands the dame, and 100 million faggy dorks continue to dream. And buy more faggy vaginal music.

Of course I was using hyperbole. I never actually physically afraid that a band would harm me in some way. Although, I stand my inference that Phil Aselmo is a badass and I wouldn't f*** with him.
And when I say "scared people", I mean they scared the parents of middle America. They scared the religious right. They shook shit up and created controversy. I remember when the president addressed the nation on television about Ice T's band metal band Body Count and the dangers of their music. Parents and preachers don't talk about how dangerous metal is anymore. Because it isn't dangerous. It's not a threat to their values or the American Dream.

the list goes on... there are still many bands who don't have 13-year olds as their fanbase and scare the right-wing.
"I'm 20, rich and famous yet I hate myself. I wanna' cut myself because the girl I like won't say "Yes!". I wish my life was more like television. Did I mention that I am a brooding yet sensitive rebel? I strum this guitar because I care and it pisses off my parents. I still secretly need my Mommy. Don't tell anyone but I used to be a marching band dork...shhhhh!"
That pretty much sums up what's wrong with modern rock. Buck up and learn to have some fun kids! No one wants to hear your diary entries set to music.
former marching band kids aren't dorks.

you're problem is that you're watching "rock" music on MTV. All they're playing is Breaking Benjamin, Nickleback, and Linkin Park. Look elsewhere for real rock music.
Nine Inch Nails anyone?
metal is so over-rated.
give me some rockabilly and a couple of betties and it's a good time.
but anyways, Mike Ness, front man for Social Distortion (who sound better than ever after almost 30 years of playing!) put it best:
MusicPix: Give us your perspective on punk- now and then?
Mike Ness: We were a part of a music revolution and we set out to change things and it was kind of a runaway train…no one really knew. It wasn’t like we had a leader giving us a direction and a goal to achieve. We just knew that we didn’t like the way things were. So 25 years later, punk has become a major format of music now. It’s been acknowledged as a significant movement. But it’s just like anything…like contemporary country, just like contemporary blues…record companies and radio stations don’t really want the real thing. They just want something that’s going to sell. It’s just like in the 50’s when we had all that racism. They couldn’t put a black guy out there, gyrating his hips and doin’ all that shit. They had to find a good lookin’ white guy to do it. It’s very similar. A lot gets lost in the translation. A lot gets lost in marketing. And all of a sudden, you’ve got this homogenized version of what is.
