Coe = pure speed, El Guerrouj = pure strength & endurance, Morceli = Coerouj (speed+endurance).
Which style of these top athletes you liked more or if you like which one of them had all what it takes to claim the title of: king of the 1500m/Mile.

You cannot argue with Hicham's career record over the 1500/mile. Clearly superior to Noureddine and Sebastian. But Morceli at his best could defeat El Guerrouj. Coe's best distance was really the 800. As an all around miler Morceli is the most versatile and was probably the best to watch. The Gothenburg world champs was a good example of his brilliance and incredible turn of speed.
Elliot=undefeated speed and strength.
Why does everyone forget Elliot? Legend
next time you double post make sure you spell their surname correct
in the 45 years following elliot, there would be a 10 second gap between el g/morceli and herby.
the (1.x?) second between the algerian and moroccan makes me wish we could see them race in their primes...ala ngeny/el g '99 mile

Ah yes, Herb. I would love to see some footage of him running. I've never seen any
(For a second there I was shaking my head because I thought you were talking about Peter Elliot.)
well there ya go
I vote Ovett.
Nor do I think Coe was "pure-speed." Most of his kicks were from like 300 out, if memory serves. When I hear "pure speed" I think of guys who have extra gears in the last 100 meters or so.
Coe's philosophy was to bolt out at top speed with a long way to go and resist deceleration in the stretch. It looks like he's speeding up, but really he's just slowing down less than the other guys in the stretch.
Excellent thanks!
The last time I searched youtube for him (admittedly a long time ago) there weren't any
