What's the best way to run the 1/2 marathon? By negative splitting, running even pace, or positive splitting?
I checked out the splits of some 1:10:00-1:13:00 runners of Gasparilla (Tampa) and the Miami 1/2, and their first 10k is always WAY, WAY faster than their second 10k.
Are these guys just running stupid races, or is that really the desirable strategy for the 1/2 marathon? Maybe it's because the first 10 is run early, during cooler temperatures?
Please advise!! I'd like to run Miami in 1:12:00 or under
