Ever since I started running my mom has always tried to get me to "let my body rest," and other things along those lines. She thought I was running too much even when I was only doing 45mpw. (She also happens to be very out of shape and gets winded just after going up a few stairs). Anyway, when I was home for Christmas she told me someone told her how hard Ryan Shay would push himself and he died because of it. I told her running isn't what killed him, but she seemed pretty stuck on her belief. Guess it shouldn't have surprised me.
It seems strange to me that my own friends and family think I'm crazy for going running when it's (OH MY GOD!) 20 degrees out, even though I'm on scholarship and am trying to be all I can be. I don't expect them to understand running, but they don't seem to even understand commitment and dedication.
Can anyone relate? (stupid question I'm sure)
