That is not Christian its just dumb. Where do you get off saying that is a "Christian" value ? I know plenty of Christians who believe in contraception. Now it may be a evanglical wack job decision but it is not Christian. Quit thinking you speak for Christians you think for nut jobs.

Removing contraception from all foreign aid programs. He did this the FIRST day of his presidency.

I disagree with your contention that Bush was elected by a bunch of xenophobes using Christinaity as their excuse.
I agree, being a xenophobe requires being smart enough to have a defined set of fears. No one that voted for Bush was that intellegent. More evidence piles up to support that every day.
The question is not whether the decision is consistent with Christian beliefs. It's about whether Bush was motivated by *his own* Christian beliefs, or claims he was. And nobody has mentioned stem cell research yet.
Someone made the argument that many people vote for Christian candidates because it gives them confidence in their values and therefore their decisions. The point of my request for examples is to show exactly what you're pointing out - that it's total bullshit. By voting for a candidate who promotes himself as a righteous believer, you get an incompetent and corrupt son of a bitch who exploits your faith in the interest of serving a narrow agenda. And if you question it, he'll try to make you look like a non-believer and thereby change the subject.
I will never ever vote for a candidate who uses religion in their campaign. No fuc\king way. I've always voted Democratic but if it comes down to Obama vs. McCain I'll have to go the other way, for this very reason. I don't know if Obama is more or less religious than the other Democrats but he sure talks a lot about it. That disqualifies him in my book. McCain is probably no atheist but I don't hear him spouting the kind of moronic drivel that comes out of Romney and Huckabee.
Religious people are not the enemy. People who mix religion and politics are.
