I train with Saucony Grid Trigon 5 Ride, which I find comfortable for running. I am mainly a track runner and this will probably be my only road race therefore there is no point in buying racing shoes. Are the saucony shoes good for racing or are they too much of a milege shoe for me to get a good run out of them?

You will not run as fast in heavy training shoe like the Trigon as compared with a racing flat. However if it is your only race I don't know if I would bother buying a flat for that one time. But I would say get a flat anyway and use them for speed workouts on the track. They will prepare your muscle a little better than using your training shoes for workouts.
