So if a motor burns out on a blender (magic bullet) what part is most likely destroyed? Is it something minor that can just be re-soldered or do I just have to buy a new blender. Probably the wrong forum for diy appliance repair, but maybe I will get lucky.
burnout is only mental.
Just take the motor apart and figure out how it works. You will then know how to fix it. Or you can bring it to me and I will fix it for 75 bucks since they only cost $50 new.
I used to sell electric motors. The small ones are commodity items, and they cost more to fix, then they do new.
I opened it up, took out the thermal protector and cleaned all the contacts. Still no dice.
It might be a bad switch. I was going to say use a meter to check the switch, but if you had an ohm meter, you probably wouldn't be asking how to fix a blender on LetsRun.
yeah. I am at my parents house, no meter here, just an old soldering iron. So I am trying to fix it blind.
I tend to lean toward what a previous poster said. Try to bypass the switch and see if it works. Does it do anything when you power it up? Any noise or is it just dead?
i was curious so i googled the magic bullet motor. it looks like it is a very common problem and lots of people are upset about it. apparently the owners manual cautions you about running it for over 60 seconds at a time and automatically will shut down at times.
Thanks for the help. It was the switch. I wonder if this is a purposely bad engineering choice.
