I'm looking for full London Marathon results from the early 90's or late 80's. One of those years, I believe the year Douglas Wakiihuri won (89) 50th place was like 2:15. Does anyone know where I can find them? Especially that very deep year?

I think John Bryant's book on the LM has a summary of past marathons at the back, but it doesn't go into great detail.
I'm not sure where to find the results, although you could try emailing Athletics Weekly.
There were two very deep years, as I recall: 1983 and 1991. I might have copies of the results from 'AW' in my own archive, because I ran both of those years (I'll see what I can find this weekend).
In 1983 (when Mike Gratton won) you had to break 2.20 to get into the top 100 or so. I finished 63rd in 2.17.35.
1991 was year that they included the Marathon World Cup and the depth was incredible, because so many countries sent teams to the race. This is probably the year that you were thinking of.

Yeah, I think the Marathon World Cup is the year I was thinking. Steve Taylor was on that team & said he ran something like 2:13 or 2:15 & was 50th!
I had a friend forward an e-mail to me & this guy ran 2:30 at Boston & was 300th & said it was the deepest in marathon history & that no other marathon was close...I wanted to check.

I remember Brendan Foster doing the BBC commentary for that race in his big thick geordie accent.
He had a lot of problems with Wakihuri. Wackeeeehourrrreeee.
Are you looking for a particular runner, or what a 2:15 would have gotten, or what?
Find a library that has the times of london on microfilm.
They listed all 30,000+ finishers in their paper the following day.

I have all of them up the club or under the stairs... I have AW going back to 64 maybe and 1957 up the club I think. What exact years would you like?? I can copy them for you as I'm a nice guy and give you them in time for christmas!

Hi, unfortunately my Gran isn’t so well, she has one wish and that is to find the times of her son Gary Paul Feenan who past away a few years ago now, also his position and running club if possible or any form of memorabilia. I believe his years were possibly 1989/94 & 95. I hope someone can help or point me in the right direction, as I am hoping to surprise her for Christmas.
