I'm watching that show on the Discovery Channel about climbing Mt. Everest. I was wondering if being a distance runner would help or hinder one in accomplishing such a feat. On one hand, I think that distance runners would be at an advantage in the ascent; this is because we are more efficient at oxygen consumption and accustomed to extreme fatigue. On the other hand, distance runners (for the most part) don't have the muscle build that might be necessary for such a challenging mountain climb, and also because of being really lean and not having much fat, would not be able to cope with the cold as well. What do you think?
