Jose Luis Barbosa, loves going out fast, and would fight all the way to the line, problem here would be that he would just pace Coe.

Agberto Conceiço Guimarães, a 1.43.63 man, he would gain on Ovett, bringing the Brazilians right back onto the heels of the Brits.

Fabiano Pecanha, new to the team, his 1.44 would leave them trailing behind Elliot, but just close enough to give CRuz hope.

Joaquim Cruz, the third fastest man of all time would chase Cram all the way, but Crams scinilating last 300m would just hold him off...just!

were those based on runners from the same era? as in within 3-4 years? if not then it doesn't exactly work.

I just used historical bests for people, so many are not of the same era. Also there could be a combined German team in there, but I was too lazy to put it together.

An all time fantasy team

My usa team would be

Johnny Gray

to be lead off with a pb/pr of 1:42.65.

1:43.20 Mark Everett a good consolidating leg.

I'm not sure which of the below would run 3rd leg 1:43.35 David Mack

1:43.62 Earl Jones

1:43.38 Rich Kenah

1:43.56 Rick Wohlhuter

For last leg I would put David Wottle (1.44.3)- Not the fastest on the team but his ability to keep a clear head and run evenly might do him a job if the leaders go off too hard.

Wohlhuter was very consistent, Everett was very inconsistent, and the best pure racer at the distance who did not run it too often was Ryun so I would open with Gray, put Wohlhuter and Wottle in the middle and anchor with Ryun - but either Kenah or Jones would do just as well in the middle.
