It's pretty impressive that they were able to get someone of Rop's caliber to be a rabbit. Well done by those 5.
Didn't he speed up after he was alone? I've got him right at 4:40 per mile from 30K to finish.
5 km: 14:44 (-4s)
10 km: 29:28 (14:44) (-8s)
15 km: 44:15 (14:47) (-9s)
20 km: 59:10 (14:55) (-3s)
25 km: 1:14:05 (14:55) (+4s)
30 km: 1:28:58 (14:53) (+9s) Rop and Wondimu retire
35 km: 1:43:38 (14:40) (even)
40 km: 1:58:08 (14:30) (-17)

Gee. Wonder what shoe company they all run for, including Rop?
i wish i could get a sweet bib number that just has my name in huge letters on it.
RE: Gebrselassie's hutch
So....you're calling Geb "Starsky" ?
(or are you calling him a "small animal" ? Either way, a strange choice of words.)
Nitwit, a hutch is what you keep rabbits in.

It's not really that hard, just break every record from 5k to the Marathon, win a few World Champs and a couple of Olympics and it's yours. Piece of cake.

Of all the thick headed, illiterate imbeciles that post here, you've managed to distinguish yourself as possibly the biggest.
Samuel wanjiru the half marathon record holder is moving to marathon...I can't wait to see the fireworks! the record will come to 2.03.48!!!!!!!!

And that shoe company is based in...? I'd say it was quite a "coup de main".
Do you think Nike is at least a little envious?

nike won't care.
i don't think geb sells shoes and few would recognize the members of his hutch.
geb does not actually sell shoes, but people look at what the best (and to this point in the world history of running) he is the best and want to wear what the best are wearing. example michael jordan never sold shoes, but because he was the best basketball player a shoe company named a shoe after him called the air jordan. and the company paid jordan probably millions, running is not as popular as basketball, but i am sure geb has a shoe contract for at least several hundred thousand dollars a year.
i understand. but i don't believe anyone is going to buy shoes because geb wears adidas.
jordan was different.

Tell that to the marketing department at Adidas. I bet they would disagree.
That's how I roll
after wearing adidas for 8 years, i switched brand. geb has no influence on my footwear and i admire his accomplishments.

I guess they're going to cancel Geb's contract now that they lost a customer.
