Anybody use the Nike Lanang spikes for XC. I found a pretty cheap pair and like nike spikes but was curious if too much grass and debris get into the open mesh? Any input would be helpful.
Thanks

i am aware of the plate differance, but the lanangs are generally the same shoe as the ventulus plus (from what i gather). i have ran several cross country seasons in the ventulus plus with no problems concerning the 100% mesh body of the shoe. but the lanang has the miler plate, if i'm not mistaken, and those never really worked for me in xc. too agressive. but i've seen plenty of people do it.
Not sure if it is exactly the same but quite agressive configuration. Would reserve it for runners going at a swift clip for cross country.
The problem isn't the open mesh (you're running in dirt and grass, not beach sand) but the aggressive Miler plate, which is too much for some people's calves. I'd like to try it out, though...maybe a 5k with no pavement...
my team mate and I both plan to use our lanangs for the stanford invite 8k this weekend. since I am redshirting I figure I can destroy my calves for one week in order to run a fast time, after that Ill let you know how it went. I dont think it will be that bad since its all grass, and that will help my calves a lot.
Imo spikes are meant to be aggresive. Work on calve strenght, most long distance have weak calves. Sorry for spelling, on iphone
