1. People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm by A Tribe Called Quest:
-they take music sampling to a whole different level and each song has its own story/meaning....they don't all resemble each other...
2. Illmatic by Nas:
-Although he gets caught up a little on the album with "rap rivals" hes raps are mroe deeper than the normal commercial rappers like 50 cent whos lyrics consist of such things as "I'm hotter than a tea kettle!" and "I got shot 9 times!"
3. Like Water for Chocolate by Common:
-People are a lot more familiar with this album than Resurrection. The songs focus on spirituality and poverty and all other social issues. Although I like this album more than Illmatic I feel that Nas got across to a bigger crowd. He got his voice out more...
4. Papercut Chronicles by Gym Class Heroes:
-Although I would probably get some horrible feedback for putting this band up with everyone else I feel like they are the most "mainstream" band to still hold the essence of what rap is about. Problem is, their hit song, Cupid's Chokehold is not the image that needs to be portrayed, its all the other songs on their album....
