Agreed. Some will still state we should assume Powell's clean. For a journalist, for sure (though I'm sure they'd agree). But the public knows.

He was 3rd in the WC 100m final but it was pretty clear he tightened up and gave up when he realised that Tyson had beaten him. Hardly the biggest choker ever, he still has a bronze in the 100m world champs and performed well in the heats.

While I will never claim to know whether someone is guilty or innocent until proven otherwise, this performance was not that far removed from what he has run before, especially considering the conditions were probably ideal for him - relaxed , slightly high altitude , small meet etc.

Well I am sure the iaaf will not ratify the record if that is the case.

I have no more reason to cry foul on this than on any other performances by sprinters this year. I suspect its just a case of your pick not getting it first.

Easy explanation... A 1.7 mps following wind, under the allowable 2.0, probably helps .05 to .10 seconds. Plus, running faster while relaxed then when pressing over the last 20 meters because someone's passing you. No mystery here.

I don't know Asafa Powell, but talk to any former Razorback and you'll know that Tyson Gay is as clean as they come. No doubt.

If you want to talk drugs, look for a history of drug use. For Powell, neither Franno or Doyle has any history with multiple athletes testing positive. I'm fairly certain that one of Doyle's runners tested positive he was promptly dropped. Same with Tyson Gay's crew, who would be supplying drugs?

Asafa has the coolest, most relaxed form at high speeds when he is not in a pressure race. I personally like watching this guy run and try to emulate it at times.

Could you imagine if you broke your mile PR this weekend and some guy in the stands sitting next to your friends and family said you were on steroids? Wouldn't you be pissed that someone actually accused you of roiding after all the hard work you did?

Asafa admitted he froze up when gay caught him. I bet you would like to choke out a 9.96 100 meters! Leave the boy alone.

First off, I would call out anyone that ran 9.74 and looked so relaxed doing it. If he were white I'd be even more suspicious. No white guy (how it's typically defined) has even gone under 10 seconds, so going a quarter second under what any white man has done before would raise huge questions.

Secondly I'm certain Powell works his butt off. So did Ben Johnson and so did Justin Gatlin. It's not as if people that take PEDs stop working and start sitting on the couch eating cheetos.

If I was in a mile race and broke the WR by a substantial margin (say, going under 3:40) I would bet that people would say something about me. Of course, if I did that I'd also be on drugs, so I couldn't really be that mad.

By the way, the title of this thread should be "drugs", not "drug".
