it is too bad that webb didn't have another gear. he really slowed down with about 110m to go when the kenyan went to the outside and bump him into lane 2 which in turn pushed lagat into lane 3.

After this bump webb lost him momentum but it didn't even faze lagat. he kept on going all the way to the line. webb had a great opportunity and perfect position.

if you looked at ramzi he was well boxed by the two kenyans heading into the straight. if he could of got around them sooner it would have been a really tight finish with lagat!

Great video! Thanks for posting that. Webb was there, right where he wanted to be...Great race until 110m to go. That's a shame. At least he contended for it this time around. Great job by Lagat. What a great, smart racer he is. And smooooooth, too. Love to watch him run.

Wow... anyone who says Bernard Lagat isn't a true American should watch that video. He seemed as happy to win for the USA as he did to win his first world championship.

Webb really was in contention all the way up to the end, he just looked too tired to kick. The race he ran was perfect, just faded a bit where he normally would have taken off. Can't criticize him for that. I think he has learned a lot this season, and I think he just learned another very important lesson. Since April, he has run 3:58, 3:51, 3:46, 3:30, 1:43, and a number of 1500s in the 3:30-35 range. I think next year, we will see something similar to Lagat's progression this year. Webb will not be in great racing form until relatively close to the olympics. That way he will hit the Olympics on the upswing, instead of towards the end of an amazingly impressive season.

Hats off to Lagat, they really performed well and represented their country well.

On a side note, how frickin tall is Asbel Kiprop? Dude is huge compared to Lagat!

How tall is wejo? Add 2-3 inches for Kiprop.

This was like watching Webbs 2002 NCAA 1500 final all over again; except a tad faster

I have to come on here and say I wasn't giving Lagat much of a chance to win it, and boy did he prove me wrong! What a run by one of the all-time greats.

great race, thanks for the post. i also noticed that it seemed like legat made sure he had the flag the right way for the pictures (blue in upper left).

and man, did he ever look so smooth down the front straight.

as for webb, he ran a great race and just came upa bit short. he looked real antsy on the starting line though to me?
