Drug Testing Procedure: How is it conducted?

When I was being tested, the protocol was this:

The athlete gets a sealed drug kit with a big jug and two vials.

Pee in the cup while standing in front of someone who does a "visual confirmation." That's to make sure your pee comes out of your body. It also gives the NCAA or USATF person a chance to look at your dick. They like that

Then the athlete pours the pee into each vial. The athlete supervises the tester sealing the vials, so as to make sure nothing is slipped into the sample. The tester and athlete sign a bunch of papers and stickers that go with the sample.

If the "A" is negative, the athlete is clean (HAHAH) and both samples are destroyed.

If the "A" is positive, then the "B" is tested. If the "B" is positive, USATF covers up the results and the athlete is clean. If the "B" is negative, the athlete is one lucky son of a bitch.

So there is no blood test. Which must mean that they're relying completely an analysis that directly detects recombinant EPO in the urine. If anyone knows where the validation of this test published (as I think is required), I would really like to know.
