i saw this and was pretty surprised...
as we have already discussed, its virtually impossible for 2 individuals to do something at the "exact same time" given the timing methods being used.
thus, it seems silly to DQ someone who false started less bad than another person in the same race.
in the instance in the womens 100, the women were on opposite ends of the track (lanes 2 and 9 i think) so they were clearly not influenced by one another, so i didnt have a problem with the double DQ, however, if you really wanted to, you could tell who jumped first..
and what if lane 5 jumps, and 4 or 6 jumps a split second later, although it appears they jump at the same time...either could have been influenced by lane 5..
also....iv seen runners have huge false starts, and many other runners will come out of the blocks in a kinda half-assed manner before the actual gun...whats the rule on this?
is there some set of rules that provides for all these situations? or is it supposed to be a judgment call by the officals?
