Apparently you forget Frankie Fredericks. And Francis Obikwelu, the 2004 Olympic silver medalist from Portugal, is actually from Nigeria. And another Nigerian got fourth in the 100 in Osaka yesterday.

East African vs. West African
Different culture growing up.
Different diet.
fourth place guy in the mens 100 (Fasuba) is from Africa (Ghana).
every finalist yesturday was originally from africa

Really? I thought Tyson Gay was born in Kentucky.
Because some white, slaughtering, opportunists decided they'd steal us from Africa, bring the masses of us to the "new world", breed us in the Caribbean, and make it socially required to either assimilate or be mutilated.

Nigeria is the second deepest country on the 100m list after the United States.

Fairy fairy funny.
Did you know, Fasuba is half Jamaican? And the other half is NOT Ghanaian.

And some black man in Africa sold your ancestor into slavery or captured him and sold him.

Little bit of a difference in genetics, too.
And in South Africa, the best sprinters are usually white.

L2R is correct in 90+% of cases. There *are* a few instances on record of white men sailing to Africa and simply going ashore and nabbing Africans; but the overwhelming majority of those who were brought to the Western Hemisphere as slaves were sold into slavery by other blacks.
And why not? Slavery was (and, in a few places, still is) part of the indigenous culture. Captives were just chattel--you could use them yourself, or just sell them to somebody else: another black person, an Arab (Swahili stems, in part, from the language of Arab slavetraders), or a European. In any case, they would still have been slaves--or killed, if there wasn't enough work for them to do and the captor couldn't find a willing buyer.
Fasuba competes for Nigera you crack feinds...... although the person who said he is half jamaican is correct

Since African-Americans rule the sprint world, why aren't there any good African sprinters?
As one Nigerian sprinter once said: "we would run faster if we had indoor tracks like they do in America".

No one else from Nigeria is on the IAAF list. Trinidad and Great Britain are probably better than Nigeria for depth.
Ive heard commentary before about how the slave trade was really a form of selective breeding. The strongest were taken and only some of those survived the passage, and then once in the west only the fittest were bought and sold. We bred a race of strong, fast people.

Wow, I didn't know that, thanks, though I would've sworn that Trinidad and Great Britain would've been way ahead of Nigeria on that list. Wow.

I've heard people say this, but the truth is that evolution just doesn't happen that fast.
Nigerians are frauds. Is that racist?
