On the other thread, someone mentioned that Lagat's training program had been well documented. Could anyone describe it or explain exactly the kind of work that he did. I realize that it may have been aided by several means, but am still curious as to what he did. Thanks.
Mileage. Intervals. Drugs.
Comparatively low mileage (in the 60's range) and comparatively high drug levels (exact figures TBA).
Mileage was usually around 25-35 miles a week. Intense everyday that we ran. Amazing track work. Very short warmups and cooldowns, like maybe a mile. Typical workouts were 6-7 x 800 on 1:45 rest. 12x300m on 45 rest at 42 pace. We would hit the dirt roads and run intense 6-9 milers some weeks at 5:15 and below pace. Amazingly talented, but needed the drugs to keep ahead of the competition.
