I've noticed this before, but especially today, i was covered in salt after my long run(2 hrs). I started to get pretty tired at about 1:40. It wasn't particularly hot out today, 70 degrees. Why was i covered in salt after my run?

Do you live in DC?
no, why would that matter
You sweat, the water evaporates, the salt doesn't.
Yea, but it was more salty than usual, i could see the salt on my arms
I live in DC and find myself salty after most of my summer runs, but why would the location matter?
I get this regularly. After a run I can feel the salt all over my body. I'm not sure why this would just start happening to you when it wasn't happening before though.
Hmm, I'd say it's the result of witchcraft.
Have you crossed any suspicious women lately?
Until you know for sure, I'd wear a necklace made of heads of garlic and never come within 10' of a credit card.
Less humidity = faster evaporation
There is sufficient NaCl (salt) to leave a residue (does not evaporate like water) when a greater % of H2O (water) evaporates during perspiration.
The more salt in your diet, the more salt in your sweat. There is absolutely no need for any added salt at all in the endurance athletes diet - just like normal population. Having a low salt diet also reduces the need for ultra runners to take salt tablets. If people just stopped adding salt to meals and/or eating foods processed with added salt there would be a whole range of pills off the shelves.
I am sorry, I never came back to the thread after asking the question...
I only asked b/c I live in DC and also found myself more salty than normal after my long run this weekend.
I am guessing it was due to a lower humidity rate. We have been having these ridiculous 100 degree, 100% humidity days over the past few weeks, and all of a sudden it was a crisp 75% all weekend. I was thinking my body had gotten used to pouring sweat, but the weather was drying it off of my body quicker than normal, leaving all of the salt.
I literally brushed it off my arms at home when I was inside, never seen it like that before...
