The title of the world's fastest human generally goes to the world record holder of the 100m dash. But is Asafa Powell really faster than bekele, Geb, etc...? Is it relative? No matter how fast someone runs the 100, I am eventually going to catch him (we both start at the 100 line) because he can't run that fast for very long. To me it is far more impressive to run 5 minute miles for 26 miles. Even Jeremy Wariner is only going to beat me by 10 seconds over 400 meters. Is this more of an societal standard?
