Has anyone ever run any road races (presumably no longer than 5k) in the Nike Zoom Streak XCs? How did they feel?

I've run a lot of raod races in them. I know they are called the Streak "XC", but they are road flats. I've actually run up to a 20k road race in them. They are fine. Calves a little sore the day after that, but that happens to me in any flats after a relatively long race.
Ive done half marathon and 10k in them. Best flats available for my money
Great. I ran a 10k with them, they're good for that as well.
You really can't go wrong with them.
I've run my two best marathons in them, as well as many training miles. Excellent shoe with an ultra-light, slipper-like feel and very few seams on the upper. Also, exceptional value at $65.

Since the Air Streak Ekidens were taken off the market, I started in the XC's and I run every mile in them. Up to 110mi/wk. I guess I would be considered a minimalist. I had tried the Katanas, but they wear out too quickly. The XC's, believe it or not, are more durable. Have run 1/2 marathons in them. Haven't tried a full yet, but plan to this Fall.

Of course you're right about that. They feel great for me too, but not day after day when it's over three miles of pavement, round trip, to get to the park - or more pavement if I run elsewhere. Not quite enough shoe for me for full-time training, and I probably wouldn't race more than about 15k in 'em.
To the OP: it's all what you're used to. As you see people who train in light flats all the time would wear 'em for a marathon, people who never ever wear anything less than heavyweight trainers might be unwise to wear than for even a road 5k.
I've been very happy with the Streaks. Set my 15k PR in them, and ran a great 10-miler in them. The forefoot feels a bit roomier than most flats (which I like, but could be a little sloppy for some people), and the cushioning has always been sufficient for me-- if anything, I wish they had less heel cushioning.
If you've been running in more heavily cushioned shoes, just increase your mileage in the Streaks gradually, same as you would when increasing overall mileage.
