Alright, I was googling and noticed the earlier thread on the salaries of track coaches. That got me to thinking about how much, or how little, I make.
I really enjoy coaching and consider it a serious passion of mine. The only thing, is that my pay seems fairly low to me. Don't get me wrong, I know track isn't one of the best paid sports out there, but at the same time, I don't want to be taken.
Basically, this will be my 6th season coaching the throws, and my 4th at this particular school. It's a small DI private college, so salaries there aren't high to begin. At both the schools I've coached at in my career, my throwers are regularly making all conference and breaking school records. Since I graduated from there a few years ago, there has been no all conference throwers or school records broken. The season I came back, there was just 4 throwers total men and women, and this year, we have a total of 10 men and women. In addition to coaching, I write weight lifting/conditioning/diet programs for the throwers, recruit new ones, work on some of the travel arrangements for the whole team, drive to meets, buy equipment if needed, and help arrange/set up home meets, pretty much what any other coach does. My pay now is right at 4k for 10 months of service. Am I right in thinking I should be getting more than this?
Thanks for any input.
