I'm wondering which event i'm best at. My PB's for 800 and 1500 are 1:58.3 and 4:05.7.

You are young. A 1:58 for an older runner usually means 4:00 ish 1500m. I'm guessing that your 1500m could fall into line with your 800 soon, or the 800 might creep ahead. Why worry at 17. Decide at 22.
would just like to know which event i should choose for a big competition coming up.
1500
Do you know your competition? How has your training been? What does your coach say? What event do you prefer? What event is best right now in The Grand Scheme? Will you be leading in these races?
1500 without a doubt. I have coached tons of 1:58 guys half of which were total rubish. 4:05 at 17 is quality any way you slice it.
At 17 I was at 1:55, but my 1500 time was 4:15 wide open, so it depends on the runner. Your 1500 time is better for you as my 800 was better for me.

You have coached?
