I don't think he'll do a three. His endurance is fine, he'll probably be focusing on 800,1000,1500 until Osaka.
But what could he run? Well a 3:46.9 for 1609 meters is pretty dam fast. Add on another 1391 meters to that, and I'd say he could run a 7:29 right now. 7:27 high if he had his kick left.

Until this June, he held the AR at 2 miles (just over 3200m) and he ran 27:33 or so for 10k LAST YEAR! Yes, he can run a very fast 3000 if he was so inclined to enter one. Who knows if he will or not.
The VAST majority of people posting on this board are American - that's just he way it is. So, when someone from our country breaks one of our national records, particularly in a traditionally "glamorous" even such as the mile, we like to talk about that guy... A LOT. Get over yourself, and stop posting if you dont want to read about him anymore.

El G is the fastest man EVER over 1500m, the mile, and 2000 meters.
He also beat, head to head, the fastest man EVER over 5000 meters.
El G is only a few seconds off the 3k world record, with the second best mark ever, which is a wild record owned by one of the greatest flash in the pan athletes ever.
Now, we all know he DIDN'T get the 3k world record. But claiming that the OP doesn't know anything about athletics because you don't, isn't fair.
Komen was definitely not a flash in the pan? He was running at an extremely high level from 1996-1999 and then got some injury problems but was still running low 13:00 for a few years later. Hardly a flash in the pan
And he would probalby still be capable of running at a fairly high level if he didnt get MALARIA in 99 or 2000 whatever it was.

NO, you miss the point my friend. If you are an athlete then you would know very well that a 1500m can not run 3000 at the same pace... similarly, an 800m can not run a 1500m with the same pace. It is only Super Henry Rono who did it, but no one can do that anymore.. why? because there are two many runners with specialities. Just like Wilson Kipketer and his 800m WR. Why didn't he break the 1000m WR or 1500m? These are different sports and that needs specialized training. Haile tried the 2mile many times when Komen broke it twice at 7.58minutes. Same with the American SPRINTERS.
i dont know what the AR is, but 59.5's would give him 7:26

I think you're right in some ways. Just remember what happened at Pre when he was probably in 3:49 mile shape and bombed. Running the 3K/2 Mile is a lot different, and just because he goes through in 4 minutes(13 seconds off the PR) doesn't mean he'll be licking his chops and feeling 100% relaxed. It won't necessarily feel easy for him like we all think it will. That being said, I think if Webb takes a shot a few weeks after Osaka with a couple race-specific workouts under his belt, he could do it.

kosovo, who suggested that he could actually run the same pace for 3000m as he did for 1500m? No one did! One poster guessed ~7:29 to 7:29 for 300m, which is about double the time Webb ran for MILE (1609.344m) not 1500m.

Thank you Partial. It is not the same. Remember Haile has tried the WR in the Marathon several times, but failed despite running sub 26 in the 10000m. If you do the calculation like these folks you can reach at sub 2.02, but guess what..it is not going to happen.
