I checked the MU website today and it is not even posted internally. Now I know they don't have to put it on the NCAA website, but I would think they do have to file it with their own Employment Office.
I think they are wasting a ton of time if they want someone ready for XC practice on August 15.

Looks like Marquette went with Mike Nelson, I don’t know anything about him but wish him luck.
Going by the post, it doesn’t look like he’ll be coaching track. That’s a shame for the distances kids. Anyone have a clue about this?

I found it at the top:

What would lead you to believe he won't coach the distance runners during track. Of course he will. Mike is a great hire and it's nice to see that an AD was able to see the success and ability Mike had at SLU.
This is what made me think Mike Nelson wouldn’t be coaching track:
"I fully expect that coach Nelson in cross country, and coaches Rogers and Koenning in track and field, will provide us great leadership as we move into another academic year," Cottingham said.
But, upon further review, I saw that he will be coaching track. He seems very young, good for him.
How much do you think this job pays?
Nelson will be coaching track and if i had to guess I would say he makes around 50-60,000
After helping with the interviewing process, the MU captains felt that Coach Nelson would be a very good fit for our program. He is young at 26, but we are very excited with what he offers. He graduated from Truman State University in 2003 with a major in Exercise Science and emphasis on Teaching/Coaching. I believe he is coming from the head coach position at Saint Louis University and before that served as a grad assistant and recruiting coordinator for Emporia State University where he studied Health and Physical Education.
As far as head coach of XC not being the head coach of Track, I view this as a positive opportunity (and yes I am on the XC distance squad as well despite being an 800m runner). For those of you who know Coach Rogers, he is a fantastic coach and person. Although his knowledge in distance events may be limited, I'm sure he will work with Coach Nelson to find what is absolute best for the distance runners. Besides that, it will allow Coach Nelson to focus more purely on the distance team.

Terrible decision based on desperation at the time. It has cost the Golden Eagles progress over time. Rumors floating around this coaching position will be opening up again.
What happened to the previous coach?
