I'm trying to assemble a list of former elite runners who are now coaching. I'm primarily interested in women at the college level but would also be interested in finding out about some of the guys.

Cal State san Marcos is correct.
But it is good old naia school. SS ran in naia for a little fyi. One of the few elites that came out of naia along with ibarak hussein who won the 800 at one point and runs the marathon pretty successful now.
Having just read his book, I'm pretty sure Steve Scott actually competed in DII and got the chance to compete DI at a couple of championships back in the day when the best from DII championship were allowed to compete in the DI meet the following week
Francie Larrieu Smith is at Southwestern U., a D-III school near Austin, Texas. That team used to be everything that's wrong with D-III sports (see other thread), don't know if they've improved under Francie.
Doug Padilla's an assistant at BYU.
Dick Buerkle (sp?) is coaching HS or junior high in Georgia.

WOW! Only two elites from NAIA??!!?? I guess Pat Porter would not be considered elite? Or Maurice Smith, 3:36 1500 meter runner? Those are just a couple examples and from one school, I am sure there are other NAIA schools that produced elite level athletes, but I don't know what your qualifications are for elite status? Not a NAIA athlete..

Steepler Robert Gary has been coaching at his alma mater since 1997. Unlike some of the other posts of people who are just used as recruiting tool, Robert is the head cross and works with the 800 and up. Not bad for a guy who ran 8:23st alone so far this year and has to put up with one of the biggest jerks in all of track and field (Head track coach Russ Rogers)!
