I read something today from a World Juniors report where someone recalled (re: the Kenya-Ethiopia distance rivalry) the 92 meet where Geb won the 5 and 10. The writer said it was the 5k where the "hitting" incident occured, with Ishmael Kirui hitting Geb as the latter drove past for the win.
I believe it was actually the 10k where this incident occured and Josephat Machuka the one who hit Geb (and got DQ'd). Can anyone verify this?

I know for sure Machuka slapped Geb over the line in the 10K (27:54?), I've got video of the last two laps. Don't know anything about the 5k, but I do know that Kirui beat Geb in the 5k at Stuttgart in '93 for the senior WC's, where Geb doubled and won his first title in the 10k. Kirui had the 5k locked up, but Geb closed so fast in the last 200m he finished only a step or two back at the line. In the 10K he clipped Chelimo's shoe at the bell, Chelimo was infuriated and started sprinting with one bare foot, and Geb ate him up on the home stretch. I thought Chelimo was gonna deck him. In the Machuka incident, Machuka was dq'd, but in later races, the commentators have mentioned that the two became friends and even shared a house together when training in Europe.
