So I spent ~18 weeks preparing for Grandma's marathon, PR'ed in almost every tune up race (10mile, 25K, 1/2 marathon) on my way to what I thought would be a great race. Well, I blew up at 20- recovered in the first aid tent at 21- and then to score points for my team- walk/jogged it to the finish for a 2:40 something. I am pretty disapointed, but the worst part is that I feel completely fine. I feel like I ran a normal weekend long run. All this fitness I have achieved, and no PR.
So I'm wondering; should I rest for 3-4 weeks and pick an early spring marathon- OR should I rest for 3 weeks, try to get into a Fall Marathon, and use the remaining 13 weeks as efficiently as possible to peak again and taper down?
