Obviously Henry is a heck of a coach but he didn't even through U.S. distance runners a bone in this article (http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/19062007/3/athletes-ready-decide-world-track-field-championship-lineup.html). I lost a little respect after this.
1) he's a sprint/relay coach.
2) why would he? US distance runners are not world class. For most US distance guys, an outside shot at a medal is a rarity. Think of a Kenyan sprinter. There may be some great talent in a sprinter, but, when facing a field of US sprinters, they don't really stand a chance. What's different for US distance runners against the Africans?
Well, when he talks of the threat to medal in events over 400, he does leave out a rising star who just beat a very strong field in Eugene... Nick Symmonds.
