I have been having problems with my right forefoot. When I run for more than 45 minutes, my foot starts to get hot, especially near the base of the toes. Looking at my shoes, my tread wear is pretty uneven. Forefoot is much more worn than heel. But, I have significant wear on the outside of my right forefoot while the tread wear on my left is fairly even. Is there anything I can do to remedy the situation? Should I look for a heavily cushioned shoe? Don't know where to start.
Any suggestions?
Just sounds like you are more of a mid/forefoot striker like me. You would enjoy a shoe with more cushion in the front, but that cushion will not eradicate your 'burning.' Try a thinner moisture-wicking sock. Also make sure that your shoes are tied tightly enough so that you aren't able to shift (create friction) inside your shoes as you run.

To deal with the hot spot symptoms -
Try 2 pair of thin socks.
Put Vaseline or Body Glide on your feet at the location of the hot spots.
Since the hot spots are possibly a symptom of a more fundamental issue, you should probably see a podiatrist and look into a soft orthotic or custom insoles. Forefoot strikers will typically benefit from a curved lasted, cushioned, flexible shoe without a medial post.
... another thing to consider would be a flexible shoe such as the Nike Free, Streak XC, etc. that will allow your foot to move naturally/freely. Many forefoot strikers have good biomechanics overall, but their feet end up "fighting" against stiffer motion controlling shoes, which ends up causing a problem that doesn't exist without the shoes.
Thanks for the responses thus far. I usually wear neutral trainers (Triumph, Nimbus, etc) with thinner socks. Could there possibly be something biomechanical? I only have the problem on my right forefoot where I tend to strike the outside of my foot fairly aggessively vs. the left.
