Any news on the Vandy's women job?
Recruiting is the most important aspect to coaching- end of story- johnson is a great coach.

That would probably be Steve taking over the full program. As it probably should be.
Someone told me when he was hired his contract was longer than the Head Coach's. That is usually not a good sign for the current, now former, Head Coach
How many track coaches have contracts for more than 1 year? Other than the obvious Vin, Henry, etc. I know I am year to year and heard that is the norm.
A number of SEC Head coaches are in the three year range while most if not all assistants are year to year.
Jay is a good coach.....I know it is JUCO, but he took Pratt from nothing to one of the top distance teams.

Jay Johnson. Nice guy. Nice hair. New shoes. But he has never COACHED! That might hold him back
Believe it or not there are competitive Div 1 schools in the Big 12 that have NO contract
Most college coaches that I know do not have contracts at all. Those like Pat, Vinny, etc are most certainly NOT the norm.
Can't recall his name, think he is from the Lubbock area and coached for quite a while at Texas A&M - other raider fans - do I have this right?
and you are trying to say what? ...Tell me that a coach in any D-1 conference doesn't sign a year to year contact and I'll show you my shinny white ass... sorry to be a little off the wall there but seriously, who doesn't sign a yearly contract, or at least agree to a contiuation of the current term just like rental agreements? And then cost of living adjustments just materialize out of thin air?
well maybe there is need to unionize the whole thing ala Woody Guthrie!!!! "so long it's been good to know you..."
Bump
Think about it. Vin at Oregon has over $1 million more in his budget to work with than the previous coach. Henry at Texas A&M has over $900,000 more than the previous coach and an unlimited recruiting budget. Do you understand the idea of no recruiting budget? It's endless, bottomless, he can never reach the limit because there is no limit. Now how do you compare the success of these great coaches to the previous coaches when the field of play is not the same?
Or you could look at it from the standpoint that those two coaches have earned those loose purse strings with their past performance.
Why does it take so long for all these schools to figure things out?
Anyone have any updates on the bazillions of jobs open, or the domino effect that will happen as they are filled?
I am also a college coach and dont have a contract. I can leave anytime I want and I guess they can fire me anytime I want. I try and negotiate a new salary every year at this time though. Not too uncommon to have coaches with no contract.
The only positions I have heard about getting filled are the Georgetown head and assistant. Have any of the other vacancies been filled but just not been announced yet?
I know a couple mid major coaches with more than a year contract. Even i fyou sign a contract that does not mean you get raise though. I did not get one this year.
