I'm in the process of getting some shirts printed up for my HS cross-country team, and I'm looking for some good ideas for slogans / sayings to put on them. Examples I've seen in the past:
Cross-Country: No half time. No time outs. No substitutions.
Real athletes don't play games.
Any quote by Pre.
What are some of the best you've seen?
One opinion: The schools name with the words Cross-Country under the name in a slightly smaller font. I know something like this won't go over with kids from a trash talking generation unless it is sold to them by the coach that the name is enough to increase pride in the school/team and evoke fear in others.
I hate to answer to a thread that will surely get ripped on to no end for being a dyestat type thread...but what the hell...I once saw a johns hopkins distance shirt that said on the back:
"chicks dig the long run"
i thought that was kind of money...

I hate slogans. You don't need words on a tshirt to motivate...period. it's message board tinder for your opponents. i always wanted to beat a guy w/ some stupid saying on the back who I knew couldn't even back up what his damn tshirt said......and I'm guilty of wearing slogans myself at times in my youth.

Agreed. Honestly, I cringe when I see some of the slogans that people put on t-shirts. They're just corny. Ideally, a t-shirt should bare the name of the school and the words "cross country" or "track & field". That alone should be the message to send out to other teams. Not some slogan.

I once saw a skinny distance kid at an indoor meet wearing a shirt that read on the front: "No, I'm not on EPO..."
Back read: "...but thanks for asking."
The best I've seen was on a Southern Missouri (SMSU) shirt that said, "Run like you stole something"

School name and cross country on the front. Last name of athlete on back.
Have the kids all come up with an idea and then vote on it.
Wing-shoe or some other classic running picture on front. Cross country on back.

without a doubt, the best xc t-shirt ever was worn by pleasant valley high school in pleasant valley iowa at the drake relays a couple years ago.
