For someone with a Max HR of ~200 bpm, what would be the maximum HR that one could see in:
1mile
2mile
5K
10K
???
(Assuming all were run at maximum effort)
Thanks

200 in each, possibly 198-199 in the 10k. The 5k and 10k would only max out during the kick.
What about the average HR?
Average gets influenced by the duration of the race cause in each case it will take a couple mnutes to get up to max, in a mile it's half over before your HR gets up there, which lowers the average. In the longer ones that early ramp-up time gets less emphasis
How about finding out by racing an all out race?
I believe one should NEVER let HR determine pace in a race. Noakes has done some interesting stuff showing that HR in training, even at the same pace as race pace, will be lower than during a race. Adrenalin cannot account for all the difference.
