How many miles on asphalt can a 160 pounder expect to run in a lightweight trainer like the Mizuno Wave Precision before the structural integrity of the shoe becomes a factor in injury?

It depends how you run. If you run mid to forefoot, then the structural integrity is less important. If you heel-strike, then the shape of the shoe is going to guide your transition.
I've also found that neutral shoes last a lot longer because they wear out more evenly. Dual-density medial posts last longer than regular EVA, so a worn-out support shoe can start to have a very goofy shape (this caused a serious injury for me once).
If I had to throw out a number, I'd say 500 miles for a heelstriker, 700 for a mid/forefoot striker.
It depends on your biomechanical issues and surfaces you run on, among other things,. I can get 1000 easily in flats, and i am also 160, but pretty darn efficient and running on softer surfaces 80+% of the time.
I'm the same way, actually. The less shoe I wear, the longer they last. The last pair of trainers I wore had me injured at 600 miles (Wave Aero). I switched to a real flat and felt fine after two weeks. Then I wore the Aeros for one run and had the same pain by the end of it. I threw them out after that.
I'm a midfoot striker, still trying to get a more efficient footstrike, but I'm about 145, and I got 450 miles out of my Precision 6s, but they had more life in them. I just didn't like them very much, so as soon as I could justify getting something new I did.
I think the above posters are right, definitely more miles for more efficient runners.
