Really? Wow, he's a machine!
Really? Wow, he's a machine!
So does anyone have a list yet???
There are only 3 US women who have gone under 2:40 going to run? Why would any marathon put up the money for a national championship if they didn't plan to use it being the national championship as a marketing tool? The website for the marathon hasn't had any info since August, what is up with that?
In some ways, isn't it sad that national championship marathon is not going to have many of the top men and women?
Maybe the trials are the only time that happens?
What kind of time for the men and women do you think will get prize money for 10th place?
Twin Cities is great on sending out news releases everytime they add a sponsor - they obviously aren't too great at building up any interest in the race by disclosing the elite field. I know that several excellent US masters women are running Twin Cities and most of them will probably run in the low to mid 2:40s. There are quite a few open and masters women who live in the Twin Cities area who have already qualified for the marathon trials (Sharon Stubler, Katie Koski, Debbie Leyden, Bev Docherty, Kelly Keeler, Janet Robertz). I think at least 4 or 5 of them will also be running on Sunday. I live here and haven't heard a word about the marathon field - the newspapers are too busy reporting on the Minnesota Twins and the lackluster Vikings.
Old News, when/if you find out anything in the local papers, will you please post it?
Ha Ha Teddy!
Remember this name for women, Judy Johnson, Marietta Ga. She
was 2nd in Vermont this May with a 2:43. She has been soild
with her training this summer and is reading to take the next step forward.
I heard a few more names but not from the newspaper - all the sports reporters are busy covering Randy Moss's latest fiasco with the law (hardly newsworthy since he is famous for doing stupid things). Other women who may be running Twin Cities are Rosa Gutierrez, Maria Trujillo de Rios, Kim Jones, Sue Kelly, Nicole Kulikov. If I hear or read of others, I'll post again.
Gee, I thought the twin cities sports pages would be filled with pre-race coverage of Griak. Go U Wis-LC
Yes, you would think there would be some pre-race coverage of the Griak meet; however, the only thing I have seen was in the St Paul Dispatch last Sunday and it was only a small reference that the meet was coming up. I suspect(actually hope) there will be a little coverage in both the Minneapolis and St Paul newspapers on Friday hyping the meet. The weather should be good and there is usually a big crowd of spectators including me. It is exciting to see Roy Griak himself helping out at the meet.
I think Buck Jones is entering the marathon. He is a former sub-4 miler..He is older now 36 I think, but he has tons of talent! Go Buck
