I know it's early, but its definitely time. Which team will take the crown? St. Johns looks quite formidable... Who will dust the field? Multiple All-American Chris Erichsen or a healthy Brandon Gleason, maybe 10K stud Kelly Fermoyle...

It looks like Carleton is going to win according to these predictions.....
So VanBruggen will not even be top 15? He is the top returner I find it hard to believe he will not be up there mixing it up
Mitch VB not running next year or what? wasn't he runner up....look SJU will dominate, the real race is for 2nd IMO. I think St. Thomas will make a good jump this year similar as to the Johnnies did when they matured a bit... and anyone ever find out what was up with Foley last track season? had a good early indoor run, then just kinda burned out a little bit it would seem.
I was just looking at results and I saw Ian Bauer from Hamline took 18th in CC and he competed in indoors, but I didn\'t see any outdoor results for him. Does anyone know what happened to him?
Bauer was kicked out of school from what I heard, look for him to pop up one of the Iowa Community College next year....
I actually think he was injured.

Foley was out with a stress fracture if I'm not mistaken. Similar to Hamline last year, I think it is St. John's conference to lose this year. However, Hamline lost last season, so you never know.

There is no way Sepe will be ahead of all those teammates. Kennedy, Martinez, and Nowinski are their top 3 for sure. Even if you think those last 2 won't be good cause hey missed track with injuries, Kennedy will still be at his best- he was not injured; just off campus in the spring.
no way fermoyle or vanbruggen let erichsen beat them in cross. there is a reason he never ran the 10k..
True. It's a slippery slope for Erichsen beginning at about 5200 meters.
I don't know about that. My guess is the reason he didn't do 10K is because his best events are 3k-5k (i.e. steeple -second at nats; 5K - 4th at nats...). The guy ran over 100 miles a week, so I doubt he'll have any trouble tackling 8K. I say top five for Erichsen at Nationals.
Instead of talking about things we already know, lets make it more interesting and see if anyone will predict the dark horses in the MIAC for the fall of 2007.
Who's young and has a lot of potential, but had trouble adjusting to 8K freshman season?
What team has a strong incoming class?
Who's training hard?
I think we all know that St. John's is training hard no matter what, they're in it for the win (nationals that is). Hamline will train hard and hopefully keep a solid team with Murphy and Steinbrecher leading the way (nothing compared to what they had, but alright). Mac always seems to be decent. Olaf has some young guys. Obviously we know that St. Thomas has the youngest team in the conference, but they don't have any super stars like Bethel has (Greeno, Gladitsch). Too bad they lost O'Grady, maybe Boumeester can take his spot? Will Neal Atzinger be back? He ran track. I think it will be a really close battle 2-6, should be an interesting season.
To go more into detail, it's safe to say #1. SJU (landslide)
#2-#6 could be Bethel if Gladitsch and Greeno run well and they get some decent places from their other guys. OR Hamline. Behind Steinbrecher and Murphy they have Ian Bauer and Dan Peterson, they also have to have some decent Freshman that were hiding in the shadows of Bristow, Yotter and Gleason? It could be Carleton. Their ENTIRE returning team from last year, they are all just under performing! Somewhere in there will be Mac, like I said, they somehow always have a middle of the pack team. After that Olaf and St. Thomas...people could land anywhere!!! I just don't know!!!
hard not to pick st johns to take it this year...with that said i think we got carleton with potential and hamline still has a pretty good core of guys with steinbrecher, murphy, bauer, peterson/groh...but it drops off from there. St thomas has had young guys forever but since its a 8k not a conference .8k they should run like they have been...mediocre, mac and bethel also have great core of guys to build teams around...it could come down to frosh surprises
Looks like Atzinger won the Grand Ol Days 8k...high 26's not out of this world but looks like he is finally running longer races again...this kid was top 30 at conference his freshmen year while not even running except for the races, maybe UST will actually have a chance now

Except they lost O' Grady, their uncontested #1 runner, meaning they are back to where they started not including improvement. In order for St. Thomas to go top 4, they need all of their guys to have amazing summers. Seeing as how the bulk of their varsity is made up of primarily 800 guys, I don't really see this happening.
