Last fall, I wanted to expose running to my three children by bringing them to the state XC meet. Running rocks, and I wanted my kids to be inspired by kids who are a little older than them and going for it.
I get to the parking lot, and there is this person selling tickets to "get in" to watch the meet (though there is no fence or anything). The price was outrageous. Something like $10/adult and $8/child. I turned around and went home.
I understand that the schools system is trying to make a buck off Mom and Dad, but this totally prices out the casual fan and future runners. No wonder kids just keep getting fatter when schools take this approach. I pay taxes for the shitty schools already, and they can bite me big time for this dispicable practice.
