This is an idiotic statement on myriad levels.
Crab fisherman make more money than Bill Gates? They make more money than the CEO of a Fortune 500 company? They make more money than the top orthopedic sports surgeon?
Doctors are the standard by which all other salaries are set?
About the flight attendant thing as well, is OTR trucking considered a dangerous job? I guess they should be making the $100,000 since it's far, far more likely to get killed in an auto accident than a plane crash.

Bill Gates is a special circumstance, so are actors and athletes.
A captain of an Alaskan snow crab boat can make well over $100k a season. Of course you'll be working 20 hours a day, but the seasons are pretty short. Oh, and you have a good chance of falling overboard and dying. Certain positions in the oil refinery business can also make well over 100k.

Two notes:
To those bitching about what Flight Attendants make - it was explained to me by a pilot - "They get paid for what they MAY have to do once, not WHAT they do everyday."
And to those remarking that teachers are overpaid or paid well. You've got to be kidding me. Teachers have to go to school in the summer (at their expense) - in the private sector, this would be paid for by the employer, and the employee would be paid for the time as well.
Good teachers often spend a lot of time after hours and on weekends during the school year working...not unlike the private sector.
My wife gets finishes up her school year on June 21, and is expected back in the classroom on August 20. In the two months in between she has 6 weeks of classwork to do. That leaves 2 weeks for true "vacation."
All of this, and they get paid fairly low IMHO.
Not to mention having to put up with today's parents, many of who believe the school is responsible for raising their kids....
You couldn't pay me enough to teach - well, maybe if I got paid about 1.5x what I get paid now (130k+)....but maybe that's just me!
