Oh I believe that some master athletes cheat, but as I said in my post, I think that the number is quite limited. Certainly not a "significant percentage." (Which is a term without any meaning. 10%? 20% 50% What percentage do you think?)
I'd believe that much less than %1 of master athletes (runners who regularly run USATF association races) cheat, which is not a "significant percentage."
I run with a a bunch of top local masters, several of whom have won season age-group titles in one of the largest USATF Club regions. And while all these runners are competitive as can be, none of them take themselves so seriously that they would cheat. They all take family life far more seriously than running. I've only met one runner on the circuit who I assume uses PEs, and he was a bit of a vain nut. I just think that most masters see running as relatively insignificant compared to the rest of their lives.
