she also is the state cross country champ
-
I feel obligated to say sometihng like, "Thanks for the pics!"
I've never heard of someone winning the 100 and 800 (let alone the other two). That's incredible. -
she is a stud-et. Good job Laura!!
-
The really crazy part is in the article, this is the second time she has done it! Wow. just an amazing young woman.
-
If she's only a freshman, how can that be? Do they let 8th graders in the State meet?
-
She only won the 100, 200 and possibly the 400 because there are no black people in ND.

Evidently ND, like a lot of other States, does so.
Wasn't there a girl in Kentucky or something who won the State HS xc as a 5th grader?
And I know that NY does/did allow junior-high kids to compete for high schools. Mostly affects the girls, of course. -
why cant i be that good

Thank you. It only took a few posts for someone with a narrow mind to find the lowest common denominator. -
South Dakota does they same thing. Check out the class A girls 1600. Not one senior and only 2 juniors.

Almost 1% of the population of ND is black.
-
Funny, if a black person was named valedictorian of a high school in Harlem and someone said "it was only because there are no white students", it would be deemed racist and Rev Al and Jesse would be on the scene.
-
The photo shows why it is difficult run fast times in the Dakotas - irrespective of the dearth of competition. Some of the young women were wearing long sleeve shirts to guard against the cold.

fixed your racist comment -
When I was in highschool in Florida, Julian Reynolds (now Clay, married to Ramon Clay) won state titles in the 100, 400, 800, 1600, 4x4 and XC before becoming a Georgetown All-American(2:03 as freshman).
Fr Yr: XC, 800, 1600 Champ
So Yr: XC, 800, 1600 Champ, 4x4 Champ
Jr Yr: XC, 800, 1600 Champ, 4x4 Champ
Sr Yr: XC runnerup to Footlocker Finalist, 100, 400, 800 Champ -
The Fargo South sophomore did that Friday in the Fargo Classic at Orvik Track, also breaking the Class A state record with a time of 2 minutes, 5.68 seconds.

She should go for 1600 and 3200 before she graduates. It'd be pretty badass to get titles from 100m-3200m
-
I hate it that a 15 year old white girl who runs XC and is hot can beat me in a sprint. It just hurts so bad.
-
pretty amazing that someone can go 100m to 800m, and apparently she even won the XC state meet (and is a 4.0 student)
by chance I found a jr. girl in new jersey, nijgia snapp who competed in all 4 in her sectional meet, finishing top 4 in all
N Snapp 12.39, 24.96, 55.15, 2.14.36
L Roesler 12.07 24.30 55.76 2.10.08
a little more research showed that roesler just missed qualifying for USATF Nationals Final in 800m last year, so she is not undiscovered - she also ran 2:05 recently for 800m, so she should be in mix this summer. there's a PA girl who has run 2.02 Price and girl from IL around 2:07.
last thoughts - there are a few 4:10 boys milers around, who go sub 49 for the quarter (R. Andrews NJ) but I haven't seen a competitive male runner be competitive at 100 thru 800+...I did see a rare javelin/3200 double once though...
and lastly I don't care what color they are as long as they're fast...I believe a black boy won the ND cross country last year - have fun!!
