mid-distance D2 guy looking to switch events. not much of a background in the hurdles and our track "team" doesn't have an actual sprint coach so i'm kind of on my own. any suggestions on books, web, anything really? thanks.

Why are you switching events? It is very difficult without the technical knowledge, support and guidance of a qualified hurdles coach. Its going to be difficult to get the same experiences from books and videos bur you may find info on web after extensive searching.
Suggest you find a coach asap or at least learn from an experienced hurdler/sprint team mate.
Going to be hard on you to maintain motivation and drive without this.
Good luck anyway with the move from mud to spikes!
Find a coach quick!
thanks for the reply. i ran 2 years of track in hs after seeing my brother earn a scholarship to the school im going to now. i figured why not give track a shot and went from a 2:05 guy to a 1:56 in a year. i posted a 1:57 this year and only broke 2 twice so i had a lack of improvement my first year here.
to be frank, the team here sucks but it was the only place offering me any money and i'm grateful for that. they are trying to build an actual track team out here (they currently only have xc guys) and i have the most foot speed on the team so i was nominated to be the lone sprinter for the time being.
i'm not looking to be a world beater. i just want to find some sort of a starting point to build on. should i talk to my coach about maybe seeing a local hs sprint coach?
Your going to be the track pioneer then. our times are good so I can understand your decision to switch for a change as well.
Definately talk to your coach- he must have contacts in your area or have suggestions.Perhapsyou could start recruiting others to join your track team as well.
Good luck man!
For 400m training, see anything by Clyde Hart, the BEST coach of 400m runners (wr holder, wr contender, numeruous 4x400 NCAA wins, etc.)
thanks guys. i googled some clyde hart and came up with a very helpful article. i think i'll stick to his stuff during the summer and worry about getting hurdle specific after building up a 400/hart type summer base. that way when i get back to school come fall i'll really be able to get it rolling.
