if they are racing flats, they should not have spikes, that might be your problem....but just try using a wrench, and run the spikes under water to loosen up any dirt.
Try using a bench vice. It works.

i did mine with WD40 and a bench vice to grip the spikes
Bring it to one of the machine shops on campus. They have tools for it.
Flat metal file to re-flatten the sides that you've probably rounded off by now, and then vice grips.
You can also use a dremel disc or a file/hacksaw to cut a groove that a screwdriver will fit in.
